Each ride gets a short code that riders can join from their phone.

Riders hear alerts

Big buttons send clear spoken messages to everyone in the ride.

Help includes location

Request Assistance can include a clickable map link when GPS is available.

1 Why Riders Need It

  • Group rides get stretched out.
  • Voice callouts can be missed.
  • Road and trail conditions change quickly.
  • Help requests need clear location info.

2 Key Features

  • Big spoken alerts for bikes, cars, walkers, turns, slowing, stopping, and gaps.
  • Medical, mechanical, and assistance alerts with map links when location is available.
  • Leader messages, private messages to leaders, ride logs, and sweep support.
  • Optional weather alerts for the ride area.
  • Works on Android, iPhone, tablets, and desktop browsers with no special hardware.

Built for real rides

More than simple chat.

Group Ride Alert is made for the moments when a ride gets stretched out, traffic appears, weather changes, or someone needs help.

Spoken ride alerts

Bike Up, Bike Back, Walkers Up, Car Up, Car Back, Car Left, Car Right, Slowing, Stopping, All On, and turn arrows are spoken to the group.

Assistance tracking

Medical and mechanical Request Assistance alerts can include a clickable GPS map link. Location is shared only when an assistance alert is sent.

Weather awareness

Ride leaders can enable weather alerts for the ride area so severe weather messages can show up during the ride.

Leader controls

Leaders can create ride codes, manage riders, show or hide rider alert buttons, send pinned messages, and lock or end a ride.

Sweep support

A leader can assign a sweep rider and request the sweep location with an accept or deny prompt when the group needs to regroup.

Rider setup options

Riders can mute audio alerts, use daylight mode, turn on double-tap protection, test speaker and GPS, or use assistance-only mode.

Assistance-only mode

Riders can choose to mostly listen: they still hear and see group alerts, while their screen keeps assistance and message options available.

Request Assistance

When a rider needs help, everyone knows what is happening.

Riders can listen most of the ride without touching the phone. If someone needs medical or mechanical help, Request Assistance opens clear choices that can include a message and a map link without constantly tracking every rider.

Ride details and leaders stay visible

Clear ride details screen showing ride name, address, creator, and leaders
1Rider presses Request Assistance.
2Rider chooses medical or mechanical, then can send with a message.
3The app asks for location only for that help request.
4Leader acknowledges, coordinates help, then resolves the alert.
Good for listen-only riders

Riders can mostly leave the phone alone and still hear alerts, but assistance is available if they need help.

Minimal battery use

Because GPS is not constantly tracking, the app can stay lightweight during the ride.

Easier to find the rider

When location is available, the assistance alert can include a map link so the group knows where to respond.

5 Why It Stands Out

Designed by a real rider

Built from practical group ride needs, not generic chat.

Simple and fast to use

Large controls and short spoken messages keep riders focused.

No continuous tracking

Location is only shared when Request Assistance is pressed.

Easy beta testing

Leaders create a ride, share a code, and collect feedback.

Coming soon: Solo Ride and Family Ride options

Solo Ride will let a rider notify trusted contacts by text if they are lost or need assistance. Family Ride will make it easier for family outings to stay connected and get help quickly when needed.

Privacy and safety note

Group Ride Alert does not continuously track riders. Location is only shared when Request Assistance is pressed and the device provides a location.

Group Ride Alert is a communication aid, not a safety guarantee. Riders should still ride safely, communicate directly when needed, obey laws and trail rules, and use official emergency services for emergencies.

Printable overview

Use the flyer to explain the idea quickly.

The brochure-style version is great for showing ride leaders what the app does at a glance. The website keeps the same message but makes it easier to read on phones.

Now in beta

Looking for ride groups and testers.

Request access to the Google Play beta. I will add your Google email to the tester group so you can install and try Group Ride Alert.

  • Free during beta testing.
  • Android beta testers install through Google Play.
  • Ride leaders can still request leader access after testing.

Group Ride Alert helps riders communicate important safety messages. It is not a replacement for emergency services, weather radio, or official emergency alerts.

Ride leader access

Need to create rides?

A Ride Leader Code lets an approved ride leader create new rides in Group Ride Alert. After a leader creates a ride, the app generates a separate Ride Code that riders use to join that specific ride.

Your Ride Leader Code is private to you. Do not share it with riders. Riders only need the Ride Code for the ride they are joining.

  • Ride Leader Code = lets a leader create rides.
  • Ride Code = lets riders join one ride.
  • Works from iPhone, Android, tablet, or the web app.
  • Leader codes are emailed right away when email delivery is available.
